The British Museum opened its doors in 1759, instantly becoming a world-leading institution. Today they have over eight million objects and an annual visitor rate pushing seven million . A fraction of those visitors engages with formal tours. How could the latest technology be used to create self-guided walking tours and reach a bigger audience?

Our team launched the audio guide in December 2015. Android devices customers can hire when entering the museum—offering predefined walking tours that take in the museum's highlights. The product is full of technology to assist in the most hassle-free experience, including google indoor mapping, in-app notifications, and exhibit recognition. From launch, ten languages were supported, including British Sign Language. The product punched through the 4% annual growth target within six months of launch—that's 67,000 tours.‍
